Ukraine and moldova to coordinate actions regarding synchronous operation of the countries’ power systems with ENTSO-E
The respective Memorandum on cooperation between the line ministries of the two countries and on joint actions aimed at ensuring the EU integration processes to achieve the synchronous operation of power systems of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova with ENTSO-E was signed in Kyiv by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalyk and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova Vitalie Iurcu.
The document clearly sets out the parties’ endorsement of the general principle of the joint integration of their power systems into ENTSO-E and confirms the joint interest in the efforts implementation towards securing the synchronous operation of the Ukrainian and Moldavan integrated power system (considered a single control unit) with the power system of the Continental Europe. The parties also agreed to implement the best efforts in promoting their interests regarding joint synchronous operation of their power systems with ENTSO-E in their relations with international partners and international financial institutions.
The Memorandum stipulates the establishment of a joint coordinating body – the Coordinating board, which, in addition to the representatives of ministries, will necessarily include specialists of the companies – transmission system operators of both states, namely, SE “NPC “Ukrenergo” and SE “Moldelectrica.”
The Coordinating board will implement annual work plans and will coordinate the order and timing of the implementation of infrastructure projects of both countries in terms of ensuring sustainable modes of functioning of each power system and the control block of the states’ power systems as a whole and adherence to the principle of ensuring synchronous operation.
