Launch of 330 kV “Kryvorizka” Substation Reconstruction
330 SS kV “Kryvorizka” became the first Ukrenergo substation where works on the reconstruction of basic equipment started with the financial support provided by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The works are performed within the framework of the contract “Technical re-equipment of 330 kV SS “Kryvorizka” and 330 kV SS “Dnipro-Donbas” concluded between SE NPC Ukrenergo and the International Consortium GE Grid GmbH (Germany) and LLC Chornomorenerhospetsmontazh (Ukraine).
The mentioned contract constitutes an integral part of the investment project “Increasing the efficiency of electricity transmission (Modernization of substations)” financed through a loan issued by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany under state guarantees of the Government of Ukraine. The Reconstruction Credit Institute KfW acts as a loan manager on the side of Germany.
The reconstruction of 330 kV open switchgear (OSG) at the substation provides for the replacement of all high-voltage equipment, relay protection and automation devices with the introduction of an automated technological process control system.
Such measures will reduce the cost of annual repairs, since the new equipment almost does not require maintenance, as well as improve the safety and reliability of electricity transmission in Kryvyi Rih district and move the company closer to the introduction of remote control at substations in Ukraine.
“The project envisages a complete reconstruction of both substations. Therefore, an international tender is being held under the rules of KfW to choose a company to perform reconstruction of 150 kV OSG and below,” noted Anastasiia Ryzhkova, a project manager of the Project Management Office. “Attracting a loan from the Government of Germany will allow renewing fixed assets of substations by means of installing electrical equipment manufactured using modern technologies.”
