KEY ELECTRICITY MARKET PLAYERS JOIN THE EFFORTS WITHIN INTEGRATION OF THE UKRAINIAN ENERGY SYSTEM INTO ENTSO-E
SE “NPC “Ukrenergo” has signed a memorandum on the joint actions within integration of the Ukrainian energy system into ENTSO-E with key electricity producers: NNEGC “Energoatom”, PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”, PrJSC “Tsentrenergo”, DTEK Energo LLC and PrJSC “Donbasenergo”.
The document stipulates mutual interest of the parties in the future interconnection of the Ukrainian energy system to the Continental Europe power system as well as provides the establishment of the joint coordination board head by the SE “NPC “Ukrenergo”.
Professional technical consulting and encouragement of the Action Catalogue implementation which is a part of the Agreement on Conditions for Future Interconnection of the Ukrainian and Moldovan energy systems with ENTSO-E is Board`s main goal.
Representatives of the parties are to develop the action plan within a month after memorandum signing.
It is as well mentioned the parties will defend the interests concerning integration of the Ukrainian energy system into ENTSO-E among central executive bodies of Ukraine and international partners.
Vsevolod Kovalchuk, CEO at Ukrenergo, while signing the document emphasized “European integration of the Ukrainian energy system is a complex issue for all market players and policy makers, not just for the transmission system operator as a signatory of the Agreement. I am delighted that all participants acknowledge the necessity of the coordinated actions and joint responsibility in order to attain a mutual goal – integration into ENTSO-E”.
Dmytro Sakharuk, CEO at DTEK presumed that “Signing of the Memorandum is a vital step for the Ukrainian power sector and for the State. We are getting closer to the integration into ENTSO-E that DTEK actively supports. We are happy to join the efforts with other companies heading to the main goal. Yes, it is not an easy job however we completely understand the importance of the “energy barriers” absence”.
Oleh Kozemko, CEO at PrJSC “Tsentrenergo” noted: “We`ve signed the Memorandum highlighting our mutual agreement to move towards the European power market. Right now it is important to define the clear tasks and priorities of all participants”.
