Ukrenergo, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany and the German Energy Agency (DENA) met discussing the possibilities of cooperation in the area of integration into the grid of the renewable energy sources (RES). The possible directions of this cooperation were presented by Deputy CEO of Ukrenergo for Communications and International Cooperation Mykhailo Bno-Airiian to, Chief Executive at DENA Andreas Kuhlmann and representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The parties agreed that cooperation could support Ukraine getting best German experience on RES integration and adjusting the grid for new opportunities that renewables development bring to countries economies. in Germany also large shares of RES are integrated in the grid, while prowiding the highest levels of energy security in Europe.
“Given the global trend of rapid development of RES, we already need to be prepared for new challenges related thereto. Our strategy for the grid development envisages the elaboration of new approaches to the operation of the grid, mechanisms for determining the necessary strategic reserves and ensuring the flexibility of the grid, deciding on its optimal configuration, etc. Taking into account the fact that Germany in particular has shown a vivid example of the successful development of RES, we are keenly interested in learning and applying the best practices for the development of the electricity sector in Ukraine”, – said Mykhailo Bno-Airiian.
