  • UKRENERGO PRESENTED THE FEASIBILITY STUDY ON CONSTRUCTION OF THE SOLAR GENERATION INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE EXCLUSION ZONE

    For the first time the energy storage system to be implemented in the following project

    Ukrenergo presented the developed feasibility study on construction of the solar generation infrastructure with a capacity of 1200 MW in the Chornobyl exclusion zone.

    The presentation was held on 1 December in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within the meeting of Volodymyr Kistion, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine, with the representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Property Fund,   State Agency on Exclusion Zone Management, StateGeoCadastre and Ukrenergo.

    Oleksii Brekht, Chief Operational Officer and Dmytro Kovalenko, Head of the Engineering research center development Department, introduced the draft project.

    The project envisages the construction of the brand new energy storage 330/110kV substation in the area of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, eleven 110/10kV substations and up to 54 km of the 110 kV transmission lines.

     “It is the firstever project in Ukraine where the energy storage system is to be installed. New concept allows to drastically reduce the impact of the renewables facilities variable operation modes on the Ukrainian energy system operational adequacy”, mentioned Oleksii Brekht.

    Estimated cost of the project – up to 100 million euros

    The feasibility study is to be scrutinized as well by the Research and Development Board at the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
