Ukrenergo has signed an agreement with Xian Electric Engineering Co. Ltd. (China) to implement the project for reconstruction of 330 kV Brovarska SS and installation of the third transformer.
The tender for the reconstruction of the substation was conducted in line with the international rules, as per the requirements of the European Investment Bank, which finances the project. Participation of 11 companies from 8 countries of the world provided active competition among the bidders. This allowed to decrease the initial cost of the project by almost a quarter, now amounting to 19.4 million euros.
The reconstruction of the 330 kV Brovarska substation includes the installation of modern package gas insulated switchgear and an upgrade of relay protection systems and emergency automation.
Also, an additional 330/110/35 kV autotransformer with a capacity of 200 MVA will be installed at the substation. This will ensure the reliability and security of the energy supply of consumers of the Kyiv energy unit – Brovary, Boryspil and Baryshivka districts of the Kyiv oblast, incl. the Boryspil airport, as well as expand opportunities for their further economic development.
“Modernization of 330 kV Brovarska Substation is part of a series of strategic projects of Ukrenergo. This facility will become fully automated in as soon as 2.5 years and ensure compliance with international reliability and security standards, said Volodymyr Kudrytsky, Deputy CEO for Investments at Ukrenergo.
