Ukrenergo meeting with representatives of Belgian company Elia Grid International in a workshop format was organized in Kyiv on 20-21 June, 2017. The goal of a workshop was to investigate operation and rehabilitation issues of Ukrenergo networks.
Issues of substations’ automation and grids’ servicing have been discussed, including performance of such activities by subcontractors. Our Belgian colleagues made Ukrenergo managers acquainted in details with the European practice of electrical grids servicing and maintenance. In particular, importance of proper technical decisions for minimizing the investment budget has been emphasized.
Elia Grid International is one of acknowledged European leaders in operating and servicing the energy infrastructure, therefore experience of specialists of this company is very important for Ukrenergo. Especially with regard to implementing our ambitious program of automating all 102 substations located on the territory under control, in particular related to the configuration and relay protection and automatic systems.
“Implementation of this program is closely related to strategic goal of Ukrenergo – to integrate the Ukrainian IPS into ENTSO–E. In this regard, Elia Grid International is one of our major consultants with respect to the Action Catalogue of technological and regulatory requirements to join the ENTSO-E”, – emphasized during the meeting Mr.Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Ukrenergo’s Director for Investments and Strategy.
Elia Group is an owner of the Belgian transmission system operator Elia Grid and the German operator 50Hertz, which are the members of ENTSO-E, and has tremendous experience of applying ENTSO-E standards in the course of its operational activities; using this experience would allow Ukrenergo to meet ENTSO-E requirements in shortest terms and with lowest financial losses.
Parties have also agreed to have a meeting of Ukrenergo’s Director Mr.Vsevolod Kovalchuk and Elia Group Director Mr.Boris Shuht on 28 June, during the visit of Ukrainian delegation to Brussels for the purpose of signing the agreement on joining the Ukrainian IPS to the European power grids ENTSO-E.
