“The latest events will not change the course of European integration of Ukrenergo and reforms in the company,” mentioned V. Kovalchuk at the meeting with the representatives of the G7 embassies and international donors.
Today, 14 July, Vsevolod Kovalchuk met with representatives of international partners of Ukrenergo, namely, the international financial organizations (The World Bank, EBRD, EIB, KfW), embassies of several countries, including the Group of Seven and countries, which resident companies appear in the documents concerning the recent searches and investigative actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine in terms of Ukrenergo.
Kovalchuk told the audience in details about a current situation, clarifying the possible reasons for its occurrence and apologized for the fact that such episodes had a negative impact on the reputation of not only Ukrenergo but also all the partnership companies mentioned in the documents.
“Ukrenergo has longstanding relationships and a good history of cooperation with the majority of you. Together we manage to effectively implement different projects for the development of the Ukraine’s IPS, reform our company and implement the European integration initiatives. In particular, those causing resistance in some circles. In all cases, we steadily adhere to the Ukrainian legislation and strict standards of international donors and organizations. It was so, it is so today and it will be in future,” Vsevolod Kovalchuk said.
The parties expressed their hope that the current events around Ukrenergo will receive an appropriate assessment and will not in any way affect the fruitful cooperation; in particular, they will not become an obstacle for the interconnection of Ukraine’s IPS with ENTSO-E for the purpose of implementing the strategic development plans and reforming Ukrenergo in the European course.
“Recently, due to your support, we have made significant progress in many issues that have not been solved for years. My goal, which is to turn Ukrenergo into a transparent, predictable European company which is understandable to everyone, is unchanging; a path chosen by us is irreversible. I will not allow the return of old times to Ukrenergo. I believe in the success of our common cause,” V. Kovalchuk stressed.
