Ukrenergo has started individual tests of equipment at the new substation (SS) 500/220 kV Kreminska. In particular, in the timeframe of 16–18 March 2020 it is planned to test under working voltage the equipment of 220 kV aerial cable lines at Kreminska-Yuvileina No. 1 and No. 2, 220 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and other components of the substation equipment.
This will result in the adjustment of relay protection, development of diagrams and equipment instruction manuals, etc. The tests are conducted as per the letter from Hyosung Corporation, the 220 kV GIS equipment manufacturer.
500 kV OHLs at Donska-Donbaska are now disconnected for the construction of diversions and the substation further connection to 500 kV GIS at SS Kreminska. These activities will be performed until 15 April. In parallel, the works are in progress for connection, adjustment of secondary protection circuits and automated process management system SCADA.
“First tests of equipment are being conducted as planned. The second stage will be on 15–17 April: testing of 500 kV GIS and 500/220/35 kV auto-transformer (AT). Construction and all pre-commissioning activities at SS Kreminska are scheduled for completion by the end of May 2020,” stated Oleksii Brekht, Director for Grid Operation and Development at NPC Ukrenergo.
It is worth reminding that the construction of SS Kreminska commenced in 2017 and its cost is 1.3 billion UAH. SS Kreminska will significantly improve the power supply reliability in the north of the Luhansk region for domestic consumers and industrial enterprises in the Donbas. Furthermore, it will make it possible to synchronize the electricity supply system of the north of the Donbas, which now operates in the “island” mode, with the Integrated Power System of Ukraine.
