In five-year time (2015-2019), Ukrenergo has increased its EBITDA from 3.7 billion UAH to 5 billion UAH and transferred 12.5 billion UAH to the state budget (taxes and deductions from a portion of net income).
In 2019, these figures amounted to 5 billion UAH and 3.4 billion UAH, respectively. This was announced on February 18, 2020, during the second annual stakeholder meeting “Ukrenergo: New Horizons” by CEO of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk.
“For us, the annual stakeholder meeting is a chance to sum up with our Ukrainian and foreign partners the results of the previous year and share our plans for the future. Such event is a tremendous opportunity to discuss important issues for boosting our collaboration productivity. Therefore, we are grateful immensely to the Primary Trade Union organization of Ukrenergo, which has funded and helped to arrange this event,” said CEO of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk.
“We hope that such meetings with the participation of the Company Management, the Supervisory Board, foreign partners, technicians, and other representatives of Ukrenergo personnel will continue to take place. Such events pave the way for the dynamic development and prosperity of the Company, and accordingly for the ability of trade unions to protect the interests of the employees. Thus, it was important for us to host this event with the involvement of the chairs of trade union committees of all regional subdivisions of NPC Ukrenergo,” said Chair of the Primary Trade Union organization of NPC Ukrenergo Oleksandr Prykhodko.
The meeting was attended by Chair of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo Sevki Acuner, CEO of RTE-International Nicolas Breham (France), and CEO of Elia Grid International Didier Wiot (Belgium, Germany). A number of business meetings with foreign partners of NPC Ukrenergo were held as part of this event.
The main results of the Company’s five years of operation (2015-2019) include the total investment of 16.8 billion UAH, with 11 billion UAH being loans. Such strategy allows Ukrenergo to invest heavily without significantly raising the Company’s tariff. It is worth mentioning that the interest rates on loans from international banks investing in the development of the transmission network do not exceed 1-3%. As of today, the total loan portfolio of the Company amounts to 1.4 billion EUR in cooperation with such international financial institutions as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and KfW Development Bank.
Starting from 2015, Ukrenergo has constructed and commissioned more than 690 km of 750kV and 330kV power lines, 40 pieces of transformer equipment, reconstructed six substations, constructed and commissioned SS 750kV Kakhovska. Total savings on procurement of goods and services of Ukrenergo over the past five years has amounted to 10 billion UAH.
In 2019, Ukrenergo completed the corporatization of the Company and a considerable part of measures envisaged by the road map of integration into ENTSO-E, namely, testing TPP and HPP units, signing a Service Contract with the ENTSO-E Consortium with the purpose of creating a common model of power systems of Ukraine and Europe. In addition, the last ENTSO-E Ukraine-Moldova project group has confirmed the scheduled term of integration of the IPS of Ukraine into the power system of the continental Europe – the year 2023.
