A new autotransformer (AT-1) with a capacity of 200 MVA and a new design and much better technical characteristics will significantly increase the reliability of power supply in Kharkiv and the region.
The autotransformer has already passed a comprehensive test and goes live.
SS Kharkivska 330 kV with a transformer capacity of 600 MVA (3 ATs of 200 MVA each) is connected to the 330 kV power grid with two lines and has 16 connections of 110 kV transmission line, which provide power to part of Kharkiv and stratigically important urban industrial enterprises, in particular, SE Plant named after V. Malyshev, PJSC Turboatom, PJSC Pivdenkabel, as well as sewage treatment facilities of Kharkiv, etc.
Therefore, given the seasonal growth of consumption under low temperatures, the new autotransformer is providing a significant increase in the reliability of power supply to industrial and household consumers of themillion-plus city.
The AT-1 was installed under the programme of replacement of transformer equipment at the expense of Ukrenergo tariff funds. This is the fifth transformer unit in Pivnichna power system replaced under this programme.
The previous AT of the same capacity (200 MVA) had worked for 45 years and according to the results of a number of indicators and inspections was subject to replacement. The new AT-1, manufactured by PJSC Zaporizhtransformator, is much more power-efficient due to the absence of oil pumps for forced oil pumping. In the new equipment, it is cooled by natural. This allows to significantly reduce the own electricity needs. The new equipment has diagnostic systems, which when connected to the automated process control system of the substation will allow to receive data on the status of AT-1 online. The warranty period of operation of the new autotransformer is not less than 25 years.
In addition, taking into account the design features of AT-1, 330 kV, 110 kV, and 35 kV arresters were replaced by surge arresters of the corresponding voltage class manufactured by Siemens, JSC PTK Energomash, and ABB. Due to the new dimensions of the AT-1, the fire extinguishing system was partially replaced. The work was performed by Chornomorenergospetsmontazh LLC.
In 2021, a comprehensive reconstruction will begin with the installation of the automated process control system at SS Kharkivska 330 kV and SS Zaliutyne 330 kV of Pivnichna power system within the “Reconstruction of substations in the eastern part of Ukraine” project. The project is implemented with a loan of the German financial institution KfW and provides for the reconstruction of SS Zaporizka 750 kV and SS Dniprovska 750 kV in Dniprovska power system.
