Ukrenergo resumed thermal power plants (TPPs) units testing to participate in the ancillary services market (ASM). On 13-16 May, four power units of DTEK Dniproenergo’s Zaporizka TPP were tested.
Currently, Ukrenergo envisages testing of more than 30 power units of the TPPs that have applied for testing, which will take about six months to complete. The work is carried out in compliance with all measures necessary to prevent the risk of coronavirus infection.
The tests are aimed at verifying the compliance of power installations of potential ancillary services providers with requirements of Transmission Network Code to participants of the ASM. Attracting new participants to the ASM will allow increasing reserves of the IPS of Ukraine.
Please note that currently the need for frequency restoration reserve (FRR) and manual frequency restoration reserve (mFRR) in the IPS of Ukraine trading area is not fully satisfied. Frequency restoration reserve (FRR) for the IPS of Ukraine is not purchased despite auctioning as there are no offers from market participants. Ancillary services for “Burshtyn TPP island” are not purchased as there are no certified and registered providers.
