On 14 May Kharkivska CHPP-5 obtained the certificates of compliance with requirements for ancillary services (AS) for its electrical units and starting Monday 18 May it can participate in Ukrenergo’s auctions of AS procurement.
It has become the tenth power plant to be awarded the status of the ancillary services market participant and is included in the Registry of Ancillary Service Providers.
The certificates issued to Kharkivska CHPP-5 comprise:
- primary control: frequency containment reserve (FCR) for the volume of ±27 MW;
- secondary control: manual frequency restoration reserve (mFRR) for the volume of 60 MW;
- tertiary control: replacement reserve (RR) for the volume of 180 MW.
Nowadays, 10 power plants are the participants of the ancillary services market, 8 of which are HPPs being a part of PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo, Kurakhivska TPP of DTEK Skhidenergo, and Kharkivska CHPP-5.
The total volume available in the power system is FCR of ±115 MW, aFRR of 1,449 MW (±724.5 MW), mFRR of 3,483 MW, and RR of 3,900 MW.
