Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Ukrenergo grid as well as working out of the short-term and long-term grid development plans. Besides, the COO is responsible for the inspectorate`s work related to the power stations and grid operation.
Before that appointment Oleksii Brekht headed the “Scientific and research center for development of the Ukrainian energy system”, separate division of Ukrenergo, main standardization body within the energy sector that deals with working out and approval of the Ukrainian grid development plans taking into account modern tendencies to ensure the operation stability and reliability. The “Scientific and Research Center” under the leadership of Oleksii Brekht has become a powerful expert platform within transmission system development strategy design, generation adequacy assessment as well as national plans to reduce emissions.
From 2011 to 2016 worked at Ukrenergo being responsible for the prospective development, EU-integration and technical policy. Oleksii Brekht systematized and improved the Ukrainian energy system grid development processes, the policy on electrical installations connection to the Ukrenergo grid. He was as well the first person to organize and implement the Ukrenergo technology policy.
A sound experience was obtained while holding the position of the Head of the Ukrenergo Central power system prospective development service where Oleksii Brekht dealt with grid planning and development and connection of the electrical installations to the grid.
Oleksii Brekht gained a valuable experience as well in the Central energy system especially within generation dispatch management to ensure the balance in the system. He worked there as a dispatcher on duty, Chief dispatcher and Head of the Dispatch service.
Oleksii Brekht started his professional career in 1999 from a machine operator on duty to the Kyiv PSPP shift supervisor.
He got a higher engineering degree in the specialty of “Power stations” in the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
